Project Children was started in 1975 by Cork immigrant brothers Denis and Pat Mulcahy, who both lived in New York and worked as Police Officers for NYPD. With a couple of friends they began the program that eventually brought thousands of children living in the North of Ireland during the Troubles to the US for a vacation in the annually violent summer period. Denis Mulcahy’s work was praised by community activists and politicians, and the film “How to Defuse a Bomb” tells this inspiring story. Denis will be joining the Fordham University Gaelic Society for a screening of the film on March 8th at 7pm, get your tickets at fordhamgaelicsociety.eventbrite.com
