In memory of murder victim Ashling Murphy, from Tullamore, County Offaly, Irish women in New York have organized a 4-mile walk/run in Central Park on this Sunday, January 22nd at 4pm.
Murphy, 23, was out for a run on January 12, 2022 when she was brutally assailed and killed in an unprovoked attack. A 31 year-old Slovakian national was charged with the murder and the case is ongoing.
Ashling Murphy is fondly remembered as a teacher, musician, and involved member of her community.
The memorial run will take off from the Boat House in Central Park at 4pm. There is a suggested donation of $30 to participate in the event, with 100% of proceeds going to the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund. See Irish Central for more details.
